So my apartment apparently has Wifi now, but the electricity still isn't working, so nothing really works. Thankfully, I'm in Jerusalem at my friend's house for the holiday, and there is electricity here!
I've spent the last couple of days running all over the country. We did a BEAUTIFUL hike in the Galil, and got to swim in this wonderfully cold stream (they call it a river, but it's really just a stream), and then camped out on a base there before driving back to Tel Aviv. Back in Tel Aviv we dealt with logistical things like bus passes, course registration, and trying to figure out how to buy food that won't spoil (hint: soymilk). My volunteer placement is essentially an internship with an organization called City Tree, which I can't really explain, but this link http://www.greenprophet.com/2008/06/city-tree-tel-aviv/ can. The classes I signed up for include beginner Hebrew, a condensed history of Judaism, the philosophy of civilization, and service learning, which I'm still unclear on, but sounds like fun.
I'm really tired. I'm sorry for how terrible my writing is right now, but I'm just exhausted. I'll update more this weekend.
Shana Tova!
